I oaW NOTICE OF PUBLICATION AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that the Council of the County of Kaua`i will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., or soon thereafter, at the Historic County Building, Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, Lihu`e, on the following: Resolution No. 2012 -22 RESOLUTION PROPOSING A CHARTER AMENDMENT RELATING TO DEFINITIONS OF "SHALL," "MUST," AND "MAY This Resolution proposes to submit an amendment to the Kaua`i County Charter ( "Charter ") by adding new definitions to Section 23.01 that specifies that, when used in the Charter, the terms "shall" and "must" are mandatory, and the term "may" is permissive. Resolution No. 2012 -23 RESOLUTION PROPOSING A CHARTER AMENDMENT RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE OFFICE OF THE COUNCIL ATTORNEY This Resolution proposes to submit an amendment to the Kaua`i County Charter ( "Charter ") by adding a new section that establishes an Office of the Council Attorney to provide legal counsel and representation to the County Council, County Clerk and their employees. All interested persons who wish to present their comments may do so at the public hearing. Written testimony prior to the hearing would be appreciated. Copies of the proposed ordinance are available at the Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division. (The Council may amend this Resolution at its subsequent meetings. Meeting notices are posted at least 6 days in advance at the County Clerk's Office and the public may also testify at any of these meetings.)
