HomeMy WebLinkAbout 05/11/2011 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND RENEWABLE ENERGY STRATEGIES COMMITTEE Committee MeetingMINUTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & RENEWABLE ENERGY STRATEGIES COMMITTEE May 11, 2011 A meeting of the Economic Development & Renewable Energy Strategies Committee of the Council of the County of Kauai, State of Hawaii, was called to order by Councilmember Dickie Chang, Chair, at the Council Chambers, 3371-A Wilcox Road, Lihu'e, Kauai, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 9:55 a.m., after which the following members answered the call of the roll: Honorable Tim Bynum Honorable Dickie Chang Honorable KipuKai Kuali`i Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura Honorable JoAnn A. Yukimura Honorable Mel Rapozo, Ex-Officio Member Honorable Jay Furfaro, Ex-Officio Member Minutes of the March 30, 2011 Economic Development & Renewable Energy Strategies Committee Meeting .Minutes of the April 13, 2011 Economic Development & Renewable Energy Strategies Committee Meeting Minutes of the April 27, 2011 Economic Development & Renewable Energy Strategies Committee Meeting Upon motion duly made by Councilmember Bynum, seconded by Councilmember Nakamura, and unanimously carried, the Minutes of the March 30, 2011, April 13, 2011, and April 27, 2011 Economic Development & Renewable Energy Strategies Committee Meetings were approved. There being no objections, the meeting was recessed at 9:56 a.m. The meeting was called back to order at 1:43 p.m., and the Committee proceeded on its agenda items as shown in the following Committee Report which is incorporated herein by reference, and as follows: Bill No. 2399 A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 23, OF THE KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF BUSINESS AND TRADES (This item was deferred.) 1 Mr. Chang: It is the committee's intention to defer this item; however, is there anybody in the public that would like to with to speak on this item? I will call the meeting back to order. Before we make a deferral, Councilmember Yukimura, welcome back. Is there any discussion? We are, again, intending to defer this matter. We were given a notice from Councilmember Yukimura that the attorneys had asked to place this on the agenda next meeting. Ms. Yukimura: They are still reviewing it. Mr. Chang: Correct, and thank you for that memo. If there is no discussion, can I get a motion to defer? I beg your pardon, Chair, did you have? Council Chair Furfaro: I just want to make sure when you refer to this being deferred to next week, you mean next week at a council meeting? Mr. Chang: Next committee meeting which will be scheduled for May 25. Thank you Chair. Council Chair Furfaro: Thank you for the clarification. Mr. Chang: If there is no other further discussion, can I get a motion to defer? Upon motion duly made by Councilmember Bynum, seconded by Councilmember Yukimura, and unanimously carried, Bill No. 2399 was deferred. CR-EDR 2011-04 on Bill No. 2404 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. B-2010-705, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE OPERATING BUDGET OF THE COUNTY OF KAUAI, STATE OF HAWAII, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2010 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011, BY REVISING THE SURPLUS AND APPROPRIATIONS ESTIMATED IN THE GENERAL FUND (Kaua`i Marathon grant $150,000.00) (Approved.)
