LIHUE, KAUAI
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, of a public hearing to be held by the County
of Kauai Planning Commission at its regular meeting at the Lihue Civic
Center, Mo'ikeha Building, Meeting Room 2A-2B, 4444 Rice Street, Lihue,
Kauai on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, starting at 9:00 a.m., or soon thereafter to
consider under the Special Management Area Rules and Regulations of the
County of Kaua'i and provisions of Chapter 8 of the Kauai County Code 1987,
as amended, the following:
1. Use Permit U-2011-16 and Class IV Zoning Permit Z-IV-2011-16 to
construct a new health care facility and storage building on a parcel located
along Kapule Highway in Lihu'e, immediately adjacent to the Kaua'i Veteran
Center, affecting a parcel approx. 3.29 acres in size, further identified as Tax
Map Key (4) 3-6-002: 024.
2. Use Permit U-2011-17 and Class IV Zoning Permit Z-IV-2011-17 to
improve an existing pedestrian way as a shared use path for pedestrians and
bicyclists starting from the Kuhi`6 Highway/Kawaihau Road intersection to
Gore Park in Kapa`a, for a distance of approx. one-half mile (2,570 linear feet),
affecting a parcel approx. 12.831 acres in size, and further identified as Tax
Map Key (4) 4-6-014: 030 (por.)
3. Special Management Area Use Permit SMA(U)-2011-3 to permit the
construction of an additional dwelling unit on property located along the east
side of Pane Road, located in K61oa, Kaua'i, approx. 300 ft. north of the
intersection with Hoone Road, further identified as Tax Map Key (4) 2-8-018:
005, and containing a total area of .2804 acres.
All interested persons may present testimony for or against any
application as public witnesses. Such testimony should be made in writing and
presented to the Commission prior to the public hearing. Late written
testimony may be submitted up to seven (7) days after the close of the public
hearing in cases where the Commission does not take action on the same day
the hearing was held.
Any party may be represented by counsel if he or she so desires. In
addition, individuals may appear on their own behalf, a member of a
partnership may represent the partnership, and an officer or authorized
employee of a corporation or trust or association may represent the
corporation, trust or association.
Petitions for intervenor status must be submitted to the Commission and
the applicant at least seven (7) days prior to the date of the hearing advertised
herein and shall be in conformance with Chapter 4 of the Rules of Practice and
Procedure of the Planning Commission.
Proposed plans and the Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Planning
Commission are available for inspection at the Planning Department which is
located at 4444 Rice Street, Lihue, Kauai.
