HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2010-36COUNTY COUNCIL COUNTY OF KAUAI e~o[ution ~~ =~,~~s RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SCHOOL ZONE 15 MPH SPEED LIMIT FOR KRESS STREET, HALENANI STREET AND PORTION OF KALENA STREET IN THE LIHU~E DISTRICT. COUNTY OF KAUAI WHEREAS, Chapter 16, Article 2 of the Kauai County Code 1987, as amended, authorizes the County Council to set maximum speed limits; and WHEREAS, the Ae Kamali'i School is located at 2943 Kress Street; and WHERESAS, Kress Street, Halenani Street, and Kalena Street are located in the Lihu'e District, County of Kauai, State of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the County Engineer, based on an engineering and traffic investigation has recommended that a maximum speed limit of 15 miles per hour, while passing through a school zone, along the entire length of Kress Street, Halenani Street and portions of Kalena Street is reasonable and safe;now therefore,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUAI, STATE OF HAWAII:SECTION 1. The maximum speed limit along the entire length of Kress Street, Halenani Street and portion of Kalena Street as shown on the attached map as Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference is hereby established to be 15 miles per hour ,when school is in session.SECTION 2. The County Engineer or his representative shall post appropriate signs designating the school zone and the 15 mph maximum speed limits imposed by this resolution.SECTION 3. Any person convicted of violating said speed limits shall be subject to the penalties prescribed in Section 16-21.6 of the Kauai County Code 1987, as amended.
SECTION 4.
