HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2013-51COUNTY COUNCIL COUNTY OF KAUAI 3&cotutton =° ,3.51 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THROUGH TRAFFIC AT EIWA STREET, LIHUE DISTRICT, COUNTY OF KAUAI WHEREAS, Chapter 16, Article 2 of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended, authorizes the County Council to create, define, re- define, eliminate or change all traffic lanes, crosswalks, through streets, and designate the type of markings or signs to be placed and maintained for the identification of those zones or areas; and WHEREAS, Eiwa Street is located in the Lihu`e District, County of Kaua`i,State of Hawai`i; and WHEREAS, the County Engineer, based on a planning, engineering and traffic investigation has recommended the temporary closure of Eiwa Street to through traffic for approximately six (6) months to allow additional parking areas during the construction of the Lihu`e Civic Center Americans with Disabilities Act ADA) Site Improvements. The closure would occur at the Eiwa Street and Rice Street intersection; now therefore,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUAI, STATE OF HAWAII THAT:SECTION 1. Temporary barricades and parking striping shall be installed on Eiwa Street as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference.SECTION 2. The County Engineer or his representative shall mark and post the appropriate signs and pavement markings established herein in accordance with the provisions provided by law.SECTION 3. Any person convicted of any violation of the traffic code provisions relating to the temporary closure shall be subject to the penalties provided for in Title VI, Chapter 16, Section 16 -21.6, of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended.
SECTION 4.
