HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2013-60COUNTY COUNCIL COUNTY OF KAUAI Ze5oCution No. 2013-60 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CROSSWALK AND ELIMINATING ON- STREET PARKING ON RICE STREET, LIHU`E DISTRICT, COUNTY OF KAUAI WHEREAS, Chapter 16, Article 2 of the Kauai County Code 1987, as amended, authorizes the County Council to determine and designate official traffic control devices and redefine traffic lanes; and WHEREAS, Rice Street and Kele Street are located in the Lihu`e District, County of Kauai, State of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, The County Engineer, based on planning, engineering and traffic investigation, is requesting the following: Crosswalk be established at the east side of the intersection of Rice Street and Kele Street. Eliminate the six (6) on- street parking spaces on the north side of Rice Street in front of the Kauai Museum; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUAI, STATE OF HAWAII THAT: SECTION 1. A pedestrian crosswalk on Rice Street at its intersection with Kele Street is hereby established as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A ". SECTION 2. Six (6) on- street parking spaces are eliminated on the north side of Rice Street starting approximately 45 feet west of the Rice Street /Eiwa Street intersection as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A ". SECTION 3. The County Engineer or his representative shall mark and post the appropriate signs and pavement markings at the crosswalks and redefined traffic lane established herein in accordance with the provisions provided by law. 1
SECTION 4. Any person convicted of any violation of the Traffic Code provisions relating to crosswalks and use of mopeds where prohibited, shall be subject to the penalties provided for in Title VI, Chapter 16, Section 16 -21.6, of the Kauai County Code 1987, as amended. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect upon its approval and posting of appropriate signs and /or markings.
