HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2013-69COUNTY COUNCIL COUNTY OF KAUA`I eotutton No 2013 69 RESOLUTION MODIFYING PARKING RESTRICTIONS, ESTABLISHING REVERSE ANGLE PARKING, AND ESTABLISHING BIKE LANES ON RICE STREET AND UMI STREET, LIHU`E DISTRICT, COUNTY OF KAUAI WHEREAS, Chapter 16, Article 2 of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended, authorizes the County Council to determine and designate official traffic control devices, and redefine traffic lanes; and WHEREAS, Rice Street and Umi Street are located in the Lihu`e District, County of Kaua`i, State of Hawai`i; and WHEREAS, The County Engineer, based on planning, engineering and traffic investigation is requesting the following: Modify the parking restrictions for the three (3) on -street parking stalls on the south side of Rice Street just west of Umi Street to be no parking from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Reverse angle parking be established on the south side of Umi Street between Rice Street and Hardy Street. Bicycle lanes be established on Umi Street between Rice Street and Hardy Street; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUAI, STATE OF HAWAII THAT: SECTION 1. Parking restrictions are hereby modified at the three (3) on -street parking stalls on the south side of Rice Street just west of Umi Street to be no parking from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2. Reverse angle parking be established on the south side of Umi Street between Rice Street and Hardy Street as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 3. Bicycle lanes are established on Umi Street between Rice Street and Hardy Street as shown on the attached map designated as Exhibit "B," attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 4. The County Engineer or his representative shall mark and post the appropriate signs and pavement markings for the modified parking restrictions, reverse angle parking, and bicycle lanes established herein in accordance with the provisions provided by law. SECTION 5. Any person convicted of any violation of the Traffic Code provisions relating to crosswalks and use of mopeds where prohibited shall be subject to the penalties provided for in Title VI, Chapter 16, Section 16-21.6, of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended. SECTION 6. This resolution shall take effect upon its approval and posting of appropriate signs and/or markings.
