A. The Kaua`i County Council's Housing & Transportation Committee will be
holding a non-decision making informational workshop on Thursday,
January 31, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Shops at Kukui`ula,
2829 Ala Kalanikaumaka, Building C, Koloa, Hawai`i 96756 (next to
Living Foods Market). The purpose of this workshop is to bring together
stakeholders in the Po`ipu-Koloa area to learn about best practices in
parking management and policies and to discuss possible solutions to
parking problems in the Po`ipu Resort area.
B. Topics to include, but not be limited to, are as follows:
• Identification of the current parking issues along Po`ipu Road.
• Potential strategies and solutions for Po`ipu Road parking issues.
• Parking policy and management "best practices."
• Related provisions in the Koloa-Po`ipu Area Circulation Plan and the
County of Kaua`i Multi-Modal Land Transportation Plan (MMLTP).
C. The workshop will be led by Jim Charlier of Charlier Associates, Inc., who
was the consultant for the 2006 Koloa-Po`ipu Area Circulation Plan as
well as the recently completed County of Kaua`i Multimodal Land
Transportation Plan. Mr. Charlier has also been retained by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency to develop "Smart Growth" tools for
addressing parking issues.
D. The public is encouraged to participate in this parking workshop from
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Shops at Kukui`ula, 2829 Ala
Kalanikaumaka, Building C, Koloa, Hawaii 96756 (next to Living Foods
Market).
