HomeMy WebLinkAbout 09/18/2013 Public Works/Parks & Recreation Committee minutes MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS / PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE September 18, 2013 A meeting of the Public Works / Parks & Recreation Committee of the Council of the County of Kaua`i, State of Hawai`i, was called to order by Councilmember Ross Kagawa, Chair, at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, Lihu`e, Kaua`i, on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 9:07 a.m., after which the following members answered the call of the roll: Honorable Tim Bynum (present at 9:22 a.m.) Honorable Gary L. Hooser Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura Honorable JoAnn A. Yukimura Honorable Ross Kagawa Honorable Jay Furfaro, Ex-Officio Member Excused: Honorable Mel Rapozo, Ex-Officio Member Minutes of the September 4, 2013 Public Works / Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting. Upon motion duly made by Councilmember Nakamura, seconded by Councilmember Yukimura, and carried by a vote of 4:0:1 (Councilmember Bynum was excused), the Minutes of the September 4, 2013 Public Works / Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting was approved. The Committee proceeded on its agenda item, as shown in the following Committee Reports which are incorporated herein by reference: There being no objections, PWPR 2013-17 was taken out of order. CR-PWPR 2013-24: on PWPR 2013-17 Communication (08/12/2013) from Council Chair Furfaro, requesting the presence of the Director of Parks and Recreation to discuss Oceanit's report that addresses the large amount of debris that accumulated in Lydgate Pond from the March 2012 storm events, and their recommendations thereof. This briefing shall include, but not be limited to, the current status of the Pond. [Received for the Record.] PWPR COMMITTEE MEETING 2 SEPTEMBER 18, 2013 CR-PWPR 2013-23: on PWPR 2013-16 Communication (07/19/2013) from Committee Chair Kagawa, requesting the presence of the Director of Parks and Recreation to provide an update on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements and food booth for Hanapepe Stadium. This briefing shall include the plans for a new ADA restroom behind the home team bleachers, as well as the plans for an ADA walkway and food booth which the Council approved in the County of Kaua`i's Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Budget for Fiscal Year 2013-2014. [Received for the Record.] CR-PWPR 2013-25: on PWPR 2013-18 Communication (09/04/213) from Council Chair Furfaro, requesting the presence of the Director of Parks and Recreation and the County Engineer to discuss the current policies, procedures, and various responsibilities for processing repair and maintenance requests.
