AUGUST 28, 2013
A public hearing of the Council of the County of Kaua`i was called to order by
Jay Furfaro, Chair, Committee of the Whole, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at
1:35 p.m., at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Room 201, Historic County
Building, Lihu`e, and the presence of the following was noted:
Honorable Tim Bynum
Honorable Gary L. Hooser
Honorable Ross Kagawa
Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura
Honorable Mel Rapozo
Honorable JoAnn A. Yukimura
Honorable Jay Furfaro
The Clerk read the notice of the public hearing on the following:
"Bill No. 2496 — A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT FOR BARGAINING UNIT 12
BETWEEN JULY 1, 2011 AND JUNE 30, 2017,"
which was passed on first reading and ordered to print by the Council of the County
of Kaua`i on July 31, 2013, and published in The Garden Island newspaper on
August 7, 2013.
The hearing proceeded as follows:
Chair Furfaro: On that note, I am going to suspend the rules
and ask Tenari Ma'afala if he would like to come up and speak to the Council body.
The rules can be suspended if you would like to come up.
There being no objections, the rules were suspended.
TENARI MAAFALA: Chair Furfaro and members of the Council,
thank you, but we are just here to see if there are concerns and things that needed
to be addressed at the public hearing. Thank you for this opportunity.
There being no objections, the public hearing was called back to order.
Chair Furfaro: Okay, so noted. Let the record reflect that
State of Hawai`i Police Officers Union (SHOPO) Representatives are here in support
of the public testimony, but do not have anything to add at this time.
There being no further testimony on this matter, the public , •aring was
adjourned at 1:38 p.m.
