NOTICE OF PUBLICATION AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the County of Kaua`i will hold a
public hearing on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 1:30 p.m., or soon thereafter, at the
Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Room 201, Historic County Building, Lihu`e,
on the following:
BILL NO. 2479
A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION (a) OF
SECTION 21 -9.2 OF THE KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED,
RELATING TO INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
This bill proposes to amend Section 21 -9.2 (a) of the Kaua`i County
Code 1987, as amended, relating to Integrated Solid Waste Management.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the Tipping Fees established in Section
21 -9.2 of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended to the following:
• Business, Commercial and Other Nonresidential Disposal Fees for
Facility with Vehicle Scale (amount set by dollars per ton)
o Municipal solid waste (except special wastes) - $119.00
o Asbestos containing materials - $218.00
o Dead animals - $119.00
• Business, Commercial and Other Nonresidential Disposal Fees for
Facility with Inoperable Vehicle Scale (amount set by dollars per cubic
yard)
o Un- compacted municipal solid waste
(except special wastes), assumed 350 lbs /cu. yard) - $21.00
o Compacted municipal solid waste
(except special wastes, assumed 600 lbs /cu. yard) - $36.00
o Asbestos containing materials - $98.00
o Dead animals - $36.00
The bill further proposes to increase the minimum tipping fee charge for any
load of municipal solid waste or dead animals to Twenty -One Dollars ($21.00) and
for any load of asbestos containing material to Two Hundred Eighteen Dollars
($218.00).
All interested persons who wish to present their comments may do so at the
public hearing. Written testimonies prior to the hearing would be appreciated.
Copies of the proposed bill are available at the Office of the County Clerk, Council
Services Division.
(The Council Committee or Council may amend this bill at its subsequent
meetings. Meeting notices are posted at least six (6) days in advance at the Office of
the County Clerk, Council Services Division and the public may also testify at any
of these meetings.)
