THE �, � t �'� C OUN ` Biil 1V o� 490 A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 22 -10.2, 22 -10.4, 22 -10.5, AND 22 -10.6 OF THE KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO DOG LICENSES AND REGULATIONS This bill proposes to amend Chapter 22, Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended, related to dog licenses and regulations, by amending Sections 22 -10.2, 22 -10.4, 22 -10.5, and 22 -10.6, and proposing new language to provide the Department of Finance and the Kaua`i Humane Society the financial resources to meet the requirements and duties specified under Hawai`i Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 143. This bill would increase the biennial license fee for each unaltered dog to $50.00 and each altered dog to $15.00, sets out the procedures for the issuance of licenses and tags, and sets a Two Dollar ($2.00) fee for the metal tag. This bill also proposes a new section to be added that provides for the seizure and redemption of unlicensed dogs, along with increasing penalty fees relating to the number of incidences occurring and whether the dog is altered or unaltered. The new section also provides for disposition of the seized dog should it not be redeemed within a specified period of time. All interested persons who wish to present their comments may do so at the public hearing. Written testimonies prior to the hearing would be appreciated. Copies of the proposed bills are available at the Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division. (The Council Committee or Council may amend these bills at its subsequent meetings. Meeting notices are posted at least six (6) days in advance at the Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division and the public may also testify at any of these meetings.)
