COUNTY public hearing on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., or soon thereafter, at
the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Room 201, Historic County Building,
Lihu`e, on the following:
Bill No. 2548
A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5A, KAUAI COUNTY
CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO REAL PROPERTY TAXES
(Time Share Tax Classification Proposal)
The purpose of this Bill is to include "Time Share" as an additional real
property tax rate classification and to return the traditional methods of valuation to
the time share plans. This new tax rate classification shall include properties that
are fractionally -owned under a time share plan pursuant to Hawai`i Revised
Statutes Chapter 514E.

A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5A, KAUAI
COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO REAL PROPERTY
TAXES (Residential Investor Tax Classification Proposal)
The purpose of this Bill is to include "Residential Investor" as an additional
real property tax rate classification. This new tax rate classification shall include
properties that are valued at one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) or more and are
improved with a dwelling unit(s) that does not qualify for the home exemption.

A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5A, KAUAI
COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO REAL PROPERTY
TAXES (Vacant Land Re -Classification)
The purpose of this Bill is to propose a "housekeeping" amendment to
Chapter 5A of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended, relating to Real Property
Taxes. This amendment is intended to address and properly categorize vacant land
previously classified as apartments and allocated in the "Hotel and Resort" tax rate
classification identified by the respective underlying County zoning districts as
established in Chapter 8 of the Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended.
All interested persons who wish to present their comments may do so at the
public hearing. Written testimony prior to the hearing would be appreciated.
Copies of the proposed Bills are available at the Office of the County Clerk, Council
Services Division.
(The Council Committee or Council may amend these Bills at its subsequent
meetings. Meeting notices are posted at least 6 days in advance at the County
Clerk's Office and the public may also testify at any of these meetings.)
