A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17A, KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS
AMENDED, RELATING TO BUS FARES
This bill proposes to amend Chapter 17A of the Kaua'i County Code 1987, as amended, relating
to bus fares.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the Island Wide Fare Structure in Section 17A -1.2 of the
Kaua'i County Code 1987, as amended. Frequent Rider Passes shall be set annually as follows:

These increases are consistent with the recommendations laid out in the Kaua'i Multi -Modal
Land Transportation Plan, which was completed in September 2002 and accepted by the Council
as Resolution No. 2013 -33, Draft 1 in January 2013, which revised and updated monthly pass rates
to be more in line with cash fares.

A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 -2.4, KAUA'I COUNTY CODE 1987, AS
AMENDED, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP AND REGISTRATION FEES
This bill proposes to amend Section 5 -2.4, of the Kaua'i County Code 1987, as amended,
relating to motor vehicle certificate of ownership and registration fees.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the registration fee for each new and renewal of motor vehicle
registration to Seventeen Dollars ($17.00).

A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 -2.3, KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS
AMENDED, RELATING TO THE COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE WEIGHT TAX
This bill proposes to amend Section 5 -2.3, of the Kaua'i County Code 1987, as amended,
relating to motor vehicle weight tax.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the annual motor vehicle weight tax established in Sec. 5-
2.3 of the Kaua'i County Code 1987, as amended, to the following:
' Motor vehicles designed solely for carrying passengers (classification includes automobiles,
buses, ambulances and hearses) - 2¢ per pound of such net weight
' Motor vehicles and other vehicles designed for carrying property or for purposes other than the
carriage of passengers (including trucks other than those described in Sec. 5- 2.3(b), truck
tractors, road tractors, trailers and semi - trailers) - 4C per pound of such net weight
All interested persons who wish to present their comments may do so at the public hearing.
Written testimonies prior to the hearing would be appreciated. Copies of the proposed bill are
available at the Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division.
(The Council Committee or Council may amend these bills at its subsequent meetings. Meeting
notices are posted at least six (6) days in advance at the Office of the County Clerk, Council
Services Division and the public may also testify at any of these meetings.)
