NOTICE OF PUBUCATION AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the County of Kaua'I will hold a public
hearing on Wednesday, Juty 9, 2014 at 1:30 p.m., or soon thereafter, at the
Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Room 201, Historic County Building, Uhu'e,
on the following:
Resolution No. 2014-37
RESOLUTION PROPOSING A CHARTER AMENDMENT RELATING TO THE PUBLIC
ACCESS, OPEN SPACE, AND NATURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION FUND
The purpose of this Resolution is to amend the Kaua'i County Charter
("Charter") by amending Article XIX, relating to the Public Access, Open Space,
and Natural Resources Preservation Fund. The proposed amendment to
Section 19.15(C) would increase the fund's mandatory minimum annual
appropriation of one-half of one percent (0.5%) such that effective July 1, 2016,
beginning with the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 budget, the Council shall appropriate a
minimum of two percent (2%) of the certified real property tax revenues to the fund.
This proposed amendment will be submitted for a vote by the electorate on the
2014 General Election ballot upon adoption of this Resolution by the Kaua'i County
Council.
All interested persons who wish to present their comments may do so at the
public hearing. Written testimony prior to the hearing would be appreciated.
Copies of the proposed Resolution are available at the Office of the County Clerk,
Council Services Division.
(The Council Committee or Council may amend this Resolution at its
subsequent meetings. Meeting notices are posted at least 6 days in advance at the
County Clerk's Office and the public may also testify at any of these meetings.)
