HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2015-49COUNTY COUNCIL COUNTY OF KAUA’I 3acio1utton No.2015-49 RESOLUTION REPEALING ITEMS NO.THREE (3)AND NO.FORTY (40) IN SECTION XVI OF RESOLUTION NO.54-91,RELATING TO THE TWENTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR (25 MPH)SPEED LIMIT ALONG AKEKEKE ROAD AND ALONG A PORTION OF ULILI ROAD,AND ESTABLISHING A MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT OF TWENTY MILES PER HOUR (20 MPH)ALONG AKEKEKE ROAD AND A PORTION OF ULILI ROAD,WAIMEA DISTRICT,COUNTY OF KAUA’I,STATE OF HAWAI’I WHEREAS,Akekeke Road and Ulili Road are located in the Waimea District, County of Kaua’i,State of Hawai’i;and WHEREAS,Item No.Three (3),Section XVI,of Resolution No.54-91, established a maximum speed limit of twenty-five miles per hour (25 MPH)along the entire length of Akekeke Road;and WHEREAS,Item No.Forty (40),Section XVI,of Resolution No.54-9 1, established a maximum speed limit of twenty-five miles per hour (25 MPH)along Ulili Road from its easterly intersection with Akialoa Road to its intersection with Amakihi Road;and WHEREAS,the County Engineer,based on an engineering and traffic investigation,has recommended that the maximum speed limit along Akekeke Road and the portion of Ulili Road being reduced to twenty miles per hour (20 MPH)is reasonable and safe;now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUA’I, STATE OF HAWAI’I,THAT: SECTION 1.Items No.Three (3)and No.Forty (40)in Section XVI of Resolution No.54-91 are hereby repealed. SECTION 2.The maximum speed limit of twenty miles per hour (20 MPH)is hereby established on the following county roadways located within the Waimea District,as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit “A”: 1.Akekeke Road (along its entire length). 2.Ulili Road (from its intersection with Akialoa Road to its intersection with Amakihi Road). SECTION 3.The County Engineer or his representative shall post appropriate signs designating the twenty miles per hour (20 MPH)maximum speed limit zones imposed by this resolution. SECTION 4.Any person convicted of violating said speed limit shall be subject to the penalties prescribed in Section 16-21.6 of the Kaua’i County Code 1987, as amended.
