HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2016-40COUNTY COUNCIL COUNTY OF KAUA’I c&I a tnt ton No.2016-40 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CROSSWALK ON PO’IPU ROAD AT KIPUKA STREET,KOLOA DISTRICT,COUNTY OF KAUA’I WHEREAS,Chapter 16,Article 2 of the Kaua’i County Code 1987,as amended,authorizes the County Council to:determine and designate the type of all official traffic control devices;create,define,re-define,eliminate,or change all traffic lanes and crosswalks,and designate the type of markings or signs to be placed and maintained for the identification of those zones or areas;and WHEREAS,Po’ipã Road is located in the Köloa District,County of Kaua’i,State of Hawai’i;and WHEREAS,the County Engineer,based on an engineering and traffic investigation,has recommended installation of a new crosswalk with appurtenant signs across Po’ipü Road on the east side of the intersection with Kipuka Street,Köloa District;now,therefore,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUA’I,STATE OF HAWAI’I,THAT:SECTION 1.The County Engineer or his representative shall mark a pedestrian crosswalk across Po’ipu Road on the east side of the Kipuka Street intersection as shown on the map identified as Exhibit “A,”which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.SECTION 2.The County Engineer or his representative shall mark and post appropriate signs and pavement markings at the crosswalk established herein,in accordance with provisions provided by law.SECTION 3.Any person convicted of violating any provision of the Traffic Code of the County of Kaua’i,Chapter 16,Kaua’i County Code 1987,as amended,shall be subject to the penalties prescribed in Section 16-21.6.
