Duties Summary:
Does skilled drafting in preparing finished engineering plans and maps;
assists in the preparation of designs for public works projects; makes diffi-
cult mathematical computations; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class differs from the Engineering Drafting Technician I in that the
Engineering Drafting Technician II does skilled engineering drafting and carries
assignments through the completion of finished drawings and makes difficult
mathematical computations; whereas, the Engineering Drafting Technician I does
tracings and drawings from rough sketches according to general instructions
and assists with the more difficult drawings and computations.
Examples of Duties:
Checks, reduces and plots field notes; calculates distances, angles, areas,
curves, and traverses; designs and makes finished drawings and tracings of roads,
culverts, drainage ditches, small bridges, and school buildings; computes new
rights -of -way for roads; establishes ground grades; computes earthwork and makes
quantity and cost estimates; makes field observations to determine best construc-

ples of plane geometrical construction; mathematics, including plane trigonometry;
general sources of engineering information.
Ability to: make engineering calculations with care and accuracy; make
drawings and tracings accurately and neatly to specified scales using standards
drafting instruments; do free -hand lettering and sketching; make mathematical
computations, using logarithmic and trigonometric tables; operate an adding
machine and calculating machine; understand and follow oral and written

Health and Physical Condition:
Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the
health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for per-
