TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR 5.400
Duties Summarv:
Performs the full range of project development and
coordinative work for transit - related projects, including
all activities from initial project definition to
completion of construction and warranty period; and
performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
The professional position in this class is responsible
for completing complex construction and other transit -
related- projects, managing the planning and coordination of
the County's transit development program.
Examples of Duties:
Coordinates and performs a variety of technical
engineering and administrative duties involved in
coordinating, monitoring and tracking transit - related
construction projects; participates in all aspects of the
development and maintenance of transit development
projects, such as transit facilities or base yard
extensions; monitors and evaluates contract compliance,
working with contractors, inspectors and other staff on
operational coordination; serves as project manager over
planning and development of operational phases and
enforcement of provisions of contracts for transit
projects; coordinates and participates in writing,
negotiating, reviewing, awarding and administering transit -
related request for proposals, contracts, requisitions and
purchase orders; develops specifications and oversees
construction of transit - related projects to address issues
of concern, need or improvement; prepares, monitors and
administers project budget and marketing plan; conforms to
county, State and federal policies, rules and regulations
pertaining, but not limited to transportation planning and
development and environmental statements; prepares reports,
makes recommendations and assists in administration of a
comprehensive transit /transportation planning program; may
plan and conduct studies and surveys related to local
transit issues.

COORDINATOR
Minimum Qualification Requirements for the Class:
Training and Experience: A combination of education
and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from
an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate
degree in construction management, engineering,
architecture, urban planning, public or business
administration, or a related field, and four (4) years of
professional experience that shall have included
progressively responsible work experience in the
coordination of development and construction projects.
Knowledge of: construction techniques and standards;
legal requirements of building, plumbing, electrical, fire
and health regulations as they pertain to building
construction and project development; principles and
practices of public relations; research methods and
techniques; governmental finance administration and
budgeting; and report writing.
Ability to: read, comprehend, interpret and apply
rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to
project development; plan, organize and direct the work of
others in carrying out projects; establish and maintain
effective working relationships with community leaders, the
general public and contractors; draft comprehensive reports
of findings and conclusions; interpret and explain
pertinent State and federal policies and procedures, rules
and regulations; communicate clearly and effectively both
verbally and in writing.
Health and Phvsical Condition Requirement:
Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class
must meet the health and physical condition standards
deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.
This is the first specification approved for the new
class TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR.
