HomeMy WebLinkAbout6.308 SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD 20070705DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL SERVICES COUNTY OF TKAUAi SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD 6.308 Duties Summary: Ensures the safe and orderly crossing of children and other pedestrians at crossing locations near assigned schools; and performs other related duties as required. Distinquishinq Characteristics: This class is distinguished by its responsibility for overseeing and ensuring the safe crossing of children and pedestrians at crossing locations near schools during mornings and afternoons when school is in session. Examples of Duties: Supervises the crossing of children and other pedestrians at designated crossing locations near assigned school, using traffic control devices and appropriate hand signals, and /or traffic equipment; demonstrates safe crossing habits for children and prohibits children from committing unsafe practices with regards to pedestrian safety; monitors traffic flow; reports unusual or adverse traffic conditions which would have an effect on pedestrian safety; attends training sessions as required on procedures and equipment used in controlling pedestrian crossings; and performs other duties as required. Minimum Qualification Requirements Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school. Ability to: read; give and receive oral and written instructions; respond quickly in emergencies; get along with others; learn and apply rules pertaining to pedestrian safety.
