News Release For Immediate Release: April 24, 2017 Water conservation requested for all Wainiha, Haena residents WAINIHA – The Department of Water (DOW) has issued a water conservation request for all Wainiha and Haena residents until further notice, due to a leak that is affecting the area’s storage tank. Residents and businesses are asked to limit water consumption to essential uses only, in order to avoid a water outage. Essential water uses include cooking, bathing and toilet flushing. Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, turning off automatic sprinkler systems and outdoor irrigation, and using water wisely both indoors and outdoors. DOW personnel have been dispatched to make emergency repairs to the leak. Earlier this evening a power outage also affected the area’s well and tank site. Power has since been restored. An update will be provided on Tuesday, April 25. The DOW thanks all residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation. To monitor updates online, please visit www.facebook.com/KauaiDOW. ###
