Water has no substitute…
Conserve it!
News Release
For Immediate Release: April 25, 2017
Wainiha, Haena residents asked to continue water conservation
WAINIHA – The Department of Water (DOW) is requesting all Wainiha and Haena residents to continue
water conservation measures until further notice.
A power outage to the area’s well site, along with an underground pipeline break on Monday contributed
to low water levels in the area’s storage tank. Power has since been restored, and the pipeline break has
been repaired. However, water levels in the storage tank haven’t fully recovered yet.
Residents and businesses are reminded to limit water consumption to essential uses only, to allow tank
levels to rise and to avoid a water outage. Essential water uses include cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.
Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, turning off automatic sprinkler systems
and outdoor irrigation, and using water wisely both indoors and outdoors.
An update will be sent when the water conservation request has been lifted. The DOW thanks all residents
and visitors for their patience and cooperation.
