Water shutdown scheduled for Po‘ipu area on June 20
PO‘IPU – The Department of Water (DOW) has scheduled a six-hour water shutdown for select
customers located on a portion of Pe‘e Road, between Linaka Road and Oluolu Road in Po’ipu. Water
will be turned off on Tuesday, June 20 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, weather permitting.
The water shutdown will allow the contractor, Earthworks Pacific, Inc. to connect a newly installed 8
inch water line to the existing system.
The DOW will notify affected customers via door to door notices, today. Customers in the affected area
include five residential homes and one commercial property.
To prepare for the water shutdown, affected customers are advised to take the following steps:
Store enough water to meet your needs during the shutdown.
Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that water heaters do not empty during the
shutdown.
If you need water during the shutdown, a trailer-mounted water tank providing potable
water will be located along Pe’e Road; near the intersection of Pe’e Road and Oluolu Road .
Please bring your own containers.
Stay tuned to radio news reports or monitor www.facebook.com/KauaiDOW for any updates on
changes or extensions to the shutdown due to weather or other delays.
After the water main is turned back on, air and or existing sediment may be mixed into the water
causing it to appear white or discolored. This is normal, and if it occurs, customers may flush water
out through an outside hose bib until the water is clear.
