Blessing held for Kaniko‘o phase two
LĪHU‘E – A blessing was held this morning to mark the completion of Kaniko‘o phase
two, an affordable rental complex for seniors in Līhu‘e.
The project adds 30 units to the island’s inventory and brings the total number of units at
the Līhu‘e complex to 90.
“Facilitating affordable housing opportunities for Kaua‘i residents continues to be one of
our top priorities,” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. “We are so pleased that more kupuna now
have the opportunity to live in an affordable place that’s close to the services they need.”
Kanani Fu, Kaua‘i County Housing Director, acknowledged the collaboration involved in
this project.
“An achievement like Kaniko‘o takes the support of countless advocates, organizations
and local and state governments. All of the partners in this project have a true sense of
commitment to quality affordable housing and understand what it takes to support a thriving
community,” said Fu.
Key partners in the Līhu‘e project include: Vitus Group; Ahe Group; EAH Housing;
County Council; County Housing Agency; U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD); Hawai‘i Housing Finance and Development Corp. (HHFDC); Shioi Construction;
