Online registration for Summer Enrichment Program begins on May 17
Sign-ups for other county summer programs also scheduled
LĪHU‘E -- County officials announced that online registration for the Summer Enrichment
Program (SEP) will begin on Wednesday, May 17, 8 a.m., on the county website,
www.kauai.gov/SummerPrograms.
The theme for this year is “Generations” and many of the activities will focus on this.
The session runs for six weeks from June 13 to July 21, Monday to Friday, from 7:30
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Fourth of July holiday will be observed.
The program is open to youngsters, age’s five to 11. Program sites include the Kīlauea,
Kapa‘a, Līhu‘e, Kalāheo, Hanapēpē, and Kekaha neighborhood centers, as well as King
Kaumuali‘i, Kōloa and Wilcox elementary schools
Enrollment is limited and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The fee schedule is as follows:
One child, $77.63, including processing fee
Two children, $97.85, including processing fee
Three children, $119.25, including processing fee
Four children, $139.73, including processing fee
All major credit cards will be accepted for payment including: American Express, Master
Card, VISA and Discover. In addition, debit and pre-paid credit cards will be accepted.
Lunch will be provided free of charge, except on Wednesdays. Parents will need to
provide their children with snacks and drinks each day throughout the program.
Lunch will be prepared through the Department of Education School Food Services
Branch and funded by the County of Kaua‘i with service between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The meal will be provided to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex,
age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Another summer program offered by the county is the Junior Leader Program, which is
designed to offer young people ages 12 to 16 the opportunity to work with participants in the
Summer Enrichment Program. To be considered for this program, applicants must complete
their application and essay titled “Why I would like to be a junior leader” online and email it to
recadm@kauai.gov.
The deadline to apply for the Junior Leader Program is Friday, June 2.
Registration for the summer golf classes will held on Monday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m., at the Wailua Golf Course pro shop.
The program is open to youngsters ages seven to 15. The registration fee is $35 per
person per session.
Three two-week sessions are being offered at the Wailua Golf Course: June 13 to 23;
June 26 to July 7; and July 10 to 21.
The sessions will run Monday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on Fridays, from
1 to 5 p.m.
Participants will need to bring a golf bag along with the following clubs: a driver; No. 5, 7
and 9 irons; putter; and a pitching wedge. Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, snack and a beverage
are recommended.
Registration for the summer swimming classes at the Kapa‘a and Waimea swimming
pools will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 27.
The program is open to youngsters, age’s five to 11. Enrollment is limited, and will be

Two sessions are being offered, June 15 to June 30 and July 6 to July 21. The first
session is for beginners, while the second session will have classes for beginning and advanced
swimmers.
The classes will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The first one will run from
10 to 11 a.m., followed by the second class, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
