Mayor AGENCY ON ELDERLY AFFAIRS News Release May 15, 2017 KEALOHA TAKAHASHI, EXECUTIVE Tel (808) 241-4470 Fax (808) 241-5113 Older Americans Month Fair set for May 19 LĪHU‘E – As part of the celebration of May being Older Americans Month, the Agency on Elderly Affairs (AEA) will hold a resource fair for seniors on Friday, May 19. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center’s Food Court. Free glucose testing, blood pressure checks and blood test vouchers, along with a plethora of information regarding senior services will be available at the fair. In addition, workshops on aging well, fall prevention as well as scams/fraud prevention will be offered at the fair. Kaua‘i RSVP volunteers will be on hand to collect canned goods and non-perishable food donations for the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank. During the fair, seniors will also be able to take advantage of specials offered by Ho’s Chinese Kitchen, Kim Chee No. 9 and Sone’s Deli and Catering. A senior ID must be presented at the point of purchase. Among the agencies that will be participating in the fair are the following: AARP; AEA; Alzheimer’s Association; American Red Cross; Bayada Home Health Care; Clinical Laboratories; Department of Veterans Affairs, Kaua‘i Community-based Outpatient Clinic; Kaua‘i District Health Office; Kaua‘i County Transportation Agency; Foster Grandparents; Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i; and Kaua‘i Adult Day Health. Older Americans Month Fair set for May 19 Page 2 05/15/17 Other participating agencies: Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity; Kaua‘i Hospice; Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank; Kidney Foundation; KIUC; Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i; Malama Kaua‘i; National Tropical Botanical Garden; ‘Ohana Home Health; Regency at Puakea; and Senior Medicare Patrol.
