Kapa‘a crash results in injuries, road closure
KAPA‘A – The Kapa‘a Bypass Road was temporarily closed in both directions early
Wednesday morning following a two-car crash that resulted in injuries.
The collision occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a northbound Chevy
sedan crossed the center line, crashed into the guardrail along the southbound lane and came
to a stop in the middle of the roadway.
Seconds later a northbound Ford pickup truck was unable to stop in time and collided
head-on into the sedan.
Firefighters needed to extricate the 26-year-old female driver of the sedan from her
vehicle. She sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Wilcox Hospital for
treatment.
The male driver of the pickup truck, age 27, did not have any injuries. Police suspect
alcohol is a contributing factor and the incident remains under police investigation.
Police closed the Kapa‘a Bypass Road in both directions until approximately 1 a.m.
Wednesday.
