Managing Director KAUA‘I FIRE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: July 6, 2017 ROBERT WESTERMAN, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-4980 Fax (808) 241-6508 Vehicles destroyed by fire KOKE‘E – Firefighters responded to a multi-vehicle fire that occurred on Thursday morning in the parking lot of the Pu‘u O Kila Lookout in Koke‘e State Park. No injuries were reported. Shortly before 10:30 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to the parking lot at the beginning of the Pihea Trail. According to fire officials, a parked van initially caught on fire and the fire spread to two other parked vehicles nearby. Firefighters had the fire under control at roughly 11:30 a.m. There were no occupants in the vehicles at the time the fire broke out. All vehicles are considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is not yet known. ###
