Managing Director KAUA‘I FIRE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: July 10, 2017 ROBERT WESTERMAN, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-4980 Fax (808) 241-6508 Brush fire extinguished in Anahola ANAHOLA – Kaua‘i firefighters responded to a brush fire in Anahola on Sunday afternoon. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened. At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, personnel from the Kaiakea and Kapa‘a fire stations were dispatched to an open area owned by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands. On scene, firefighters found heavy brush and grass burning on the makai-side of Kūhiō Highway, across from the Anahola solar farm. Air 1 assisted firefighters and provided water drops to the roughly 3.5-acre fire. The fire was fully extinguished and the scene was cleared at approximately 5:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is not yet known. ###
