8 P.M. UPDATE: Flash Flood Warning extended until 10 p.m.
LĪHU‘E – The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning for Kaua‘i
until 10 p.m., as runoff and stream levels remain high over various areas across the island. The
warning may be extended, dropped or modified as conditions develop.
Kūhiō Highway, in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge, remains closed until further notice
due to flooding.
Officials continue to report heavy ponding, low visibility and other hazardous driving
conditions across the island. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution.
Hanalei Elementary School is currently open as an American Red Cross emergency
shelter.
Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative continues to work on restoring power to localized
outages throughout the island.
A Flash Flood Warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads
and low-lying areas. Do not cross fast-flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
