Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Kekaha
KEKAHA – Firefighters extinguished a structure fire that broke out in Kekaha on
Wednesday evening.
The adult male occupant was not home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Waimea fire station were dispatched around 5:45 p.m. to a fire on
Io Road in Kekaha.
Once on scene, the fire was located in a first-floor bedroom of a multifamily dwelling.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze from outside of the bedroom’s window, and were able to
prevent the flames from spreading.
The scene was cleared at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Fire investigators from KFD’s Fire Prevention Bureau estimate that the fire caused
roughly $25,000 in damages to the structure and its contents.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross are assisting the displaced male occupant of
the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
