Managing Director KAUA‘I POLICE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: September 8, 2017 DARRYL PERRY, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-1600 Fax (808) 241-1604 Male visitor dies while snorkeling KAUMAKANI – Kaua‘i police report that a male visitor died while snorkeling in waters approximately 40 yards off shore fronting Kaumakani on Friday morning. Police have identified him as Harold Edwards, age 76, of California. While snorkeling during a charter Na Pali boat tour, the victim was noticed as unresponsive in the water. Crew members brought him onto the boat and immediately began CPR until medics arrived. He was then transported to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Volunteers from Life’s Bridges, a grief counseling service, are assisting the man’s family. An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected. The investigation remains ongoing. ###
