Male visitor dies while snorkeling
KAUMAKANI – Kaua‘i police report that a male visitor died while snorkeling in waters
approximately 40 yards off shore fronting Kaumakani on Friday morning.
Police have identified him as Harold Edwards, age 76, of California.
While snorkeling during a charter Na Pali boat tour, the victim was noticed as
unresponsive in the water. Crew members brought him onto the boat and immediately began
CPR until medics arrived.
He was then transported to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead.
Volunteers from Life’s Bridges, a grief counseling service, are assisting the man’s family.
An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
The investigation remains ongoing.
