Police recover body from Nāwiliwili
LĪHU‘E – Kaua‘i police recovered the body of a 65-year-old man from waters near the
Nāwiliwili Small Boat Harbor in Līhu‘e on Sunday morning.
His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
At approximately 7 a.m., a bystander walking near the jetty noticed an unresponsive
male floating in the water and reported his observations to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Police, firefighters and personnel from the state Department of Land and Natural
Resources were notified and responded to the area. Firefighters removed the body from the
water. The man was presumed dead at the scene and was transported to Wilcox Morgue.
The case remains under investigation, but police do not suspect foul play at this time.
An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
