Police operation leads to arrests, removal of illegal campsites
The Kaua‘i Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (FAST) conducted
a special mission on Monday in the Līhu‘e and Kapa‘a areas, which led to arrests, the removal
of illegal campsites and the removal of abandoned property.
In Līhu‘e, eight subjects were arrested for 12 outstanding warrants, totaling $35,325 in
bail.
The team, along with officers from the state Department of Conservation and Resources
Enforcement (DOCARE) and county park rangers, also removed several illegal campsites and
two truckloads of abandoned property in the Kapa‘a area near Lihi Park.
“The area in and around Lihi Park has been a top concern for our police department as
we have received numerous complaints from the community, many of whom expressed they felt
unsafe in the area,” said Kaua‘i Police Chief Darryl Perry. “I commend the FAST team,
DOCARE, and our park rangers for their hard work to keep our community safe.”
