K-PAL receives donation from Kaua‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk
LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Police Activities League (K-PAL) received a check for $4,000
earlier this month thanks to the Kaua‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk.
“We are very grateful to the Charity Walk sponsors, coordinators and volunteers, for
including K-PAL as a recipient of this generous donation,” said Kaua‘i Police Chief Darryl Perry.
“K-PAL programs strive to ‘fill playgrounds, not prisons’ by providing positive activities and role
models for our youth. I look forward to seeing the program continue to make a positive impact in
our keiki.”
The $4,000 donation will go towards purchasing safety equipment for the various youth
activities and help sustain K-PAL’s north shore basketball program, island-wide flag football
program, and boxing program.
K-PAL is a non-profit organization coordinated by the Kaua‘i Police Department to offer
programs to youth ages 5 to 18. Its goal is to encourage good behavior, a healthy lifestyle, deter
youth from illegal drugs and crime, and help them reach their full potential. It also seeks to
strengthen police-community relations.
For more information on the K-PAL program, activities or to volunteer and get involved,
visit the K-PAL website at www.kauai.gov/police or call Sgt. Lance Okasaki at 241-1647.
Sgt. Lance Okasaki accepted the $4,000 donation on behalf of the Kaua‘i Police Activities
League, at the Kaua‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk’s check distribution breakfast on Sept. 7.
