Managing Director KAUA‘I POLICE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: January 18, 2017 DARRYL PERRY, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-1600 Fax (808) 241-1604 Kūhiō Highway closed following two-car crash in Princeville PRINCEVILLE – Kūhiō Highway in Princeville was closed in both directions on Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision that occurred near Princeville Airport. According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Nissan sedan was heading north on the highway, when it apparently crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Mercedes SUV. The male driver of the Nissan sedan, age 60, of Washington, had to be extricated from the vehicle. He and his 61-year-old female passenger were transported by medics to Wilcox Hospital. The driver of the Mercedes SUV, a 38-year-old Princeville woman, and her three juvenile passengers were also transported by medics to Wilcox Hospital. No life-threatening injuries were reported. Kuhio Highway was closed in both directions to allow the vehicles to be towed from the scene. Police reopened the roadway shortly before 5 p.m. ###
