Kūhiō Highway closed following two-car crash in Princeville
PRINCEVILLE – Kūhiō Highway in Princeville was closed in both directions on
Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision that occurred near Princeville Airport.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Nissan sedan was
heading north on the highway, when it apparently crossed the center line and struck an
oncoming Mercedes SUV.
The male driver of the Nissan sedan, age 60, of Washington, had to be extricated from
the vehicle. He and his 61-year-old female passenger were transported by medics to Wilcox
Hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes SUV, a 38-year-old Princeville woman, and her three juvenile
passengers were also transported by medics to Wilcox Hospital.
No life-threatening injuries were reported.
Kuhio Highway was closed in both directions to allow the vehicles to be towed from the
scene. Police reopened the roadway shortly before 5 p.m.
