CERT announces upcoming classes in Hanapēpē, Kapa‘a and Princeville
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) announces upcoming training
courses in Hanapēpē, Kapa‘a and Princeville. CERT is a free six-week disaster and emergency
preparedness course that is tailored to citizens and taught by firefighters.
All classes will be held in the evening, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Hanapepe classes will be held every Wednesday, beginning Jan. 4 through Feb. 8, at
the Hanapēpē Library, located at 4490 Kona Road.
Kapa‘a classes will be held on Thursdays, Feb. 9 through March 16, at the St. Catherine
School cafeteria, located at 5021 Kawaihau Road.
Princeville classes will be held on Monday nights at the Sunset Drive Clubhouse on
Napo‘okala Drive, from Jan. 10 to Feb. 21. There will be no class on Feb. 14.
CERT is a program sponsored by the Kaua'i Fire Department and the Kaua'i Emergency
Management Agency (formerly Civil Defense). Participants will learn about different types of
disasters and how to prepare and respond. Topics will include fire safety, light search and
rescue, team organization and first aid.
Additional classes will be held islandwide. Dates and locations of upcoming classes will
be announced as they are confirmed.
