County hosts Drug Take Back Day
LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) is collecting unused, unwanted, or
expired prescription medications and other drugs on National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday,
Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at KPD headquarters, located at 3990 Ka‘ana St. in Līhu‘e.
Tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage forms of medication – prescription or
nonprescription – including patches, are accepted. New or used needles and syringes, and
liquid forms are not accepted.
This service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked.
Drug Take Back Day is part of a national initiative coordinated by the U.S. Drug
Enforcement Agency (DEA) which focuses on providing a safe, convenient, and responsible
method of disposing medications, while also educating the community about the potential for
abuse and consequences of improper storage and disposal.
For more information on the National Take Back Initiative, please visit the DEA’s website
at www.dea.gov, or contact Sgt. Kenneth Carvalho with the Kaua‘i Police Department at 241-

To request an ASL Interpreter, materials in an alternate format, or other auxiliary aid
support to participate, please call 241-4925.
