Managing Director KAUA‘I FIRE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: October 25, 2017 ROBERT WESTERMAN, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-4980 Fax (808) 241-6508 North Shore beaches closed due to high surf All North Shore beaches, from Hanalei Bay to Ke‘e Beach and ‘Anini Beach, are closed to swimming today due to high surf conditions. Ocean Safety officials report wave heights of up to 25 feet in these areas. Lifeguards will remain at the beach towers throughout the day to notify beachgoers of the closure. All beaches will reopen as officials deem them safe for swimming. The National Weather Service (NWS) has posted a High Surf Warning along all north and west facing shores on Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau until 6 p.m. Wednesday. The warning may be extended or modified as conditions develop. For updated information on ocean and weather alerts, visit the NWS website, www.weather.gov/hawaii.
