Search continues for escaped inmate
Kaua‘i police continue to search for Kamoeli‘i Kolo, an inmate who escaped from Kaua‘i
Community Correctional Center (KCCC) on Wednesday.
Kolo, age 35 of Anahola, is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has black
hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call 911
immediately. Tipsters are eligible to receive a cash reward from the Kaua‘i Police Department
(KPD) if the information provided leads to his arrest.
At approximately 1:16 p.m. on Wednesday, police were notified by KCCC that two
inmates – Kolo and another inmate, Joshua Preston – had escaped from the facility grounds.
Roughly 20 KPD officers, along with Air 1, responded in the search.
Police located and apprehended Preston, age 36 of Līhu‘e, at approximately 5:30 p.m.
on Wednesday at Wailua Golf Course. He was arrested for Escape, and was transferred on
Thursday back to the custody of the state Department of Public Safety.
