SHIMONISHI, DIRECTOR Tel (808) 241-4200 Fax (808) 241-6529 Del Sherman named Information Technology Manager LĪHU‘E – Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr today announced the promotion of Del Sherman as the county’s new information technology manager. Sherman was previously serving as the county’s acting information technology manager since March, and has worked at the county since 2013. “Del brings over two decades of IT experience to the county and his drive to continue our mission to serve the people are among his top priorities,” said Mayor Carvalho. Sherman will oversee the county’s technology infrastructure and will be responsible for overseeing 13 IT staff members. Lowering the number of physical servers and adding more virtual servers to save time, energy costs, and taxpayer money are among the IT department’s biggest accomplishments since Sherman joined the team. “We have to do more with less,” Sherman said. “We have to do things to make things more efficient,” Sherman said. Moving forward, Sherman’s goals include going paperless, developing electronic workflows, upgrading and replacing the county’s current software capabilities, and utilizing a land information management system. “When you think of all the resources we’re entrusted with, taking care of our island is at the core of everything,” Sherman said. “The addition of better software will give us better tools to serve our county residents.” Sherman graduated from Western Governor’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, and previously worked as an IT manager for Charlotte County’s Sherriff’s office in South Florida for 23 years. Del Sherman brings over two decades of IT experience to the county and has been promoted as the information technology manager. ###
