Managing Director KAUA'I EMERGENCY MANAGEMEMENT AGENCY News Release For Immediate Release: November 1, 2017 ELTON USHIO, ADMINISTRATOR Tel (808) 241-1800 Fax (808) 241-1860 4:15 p.m. weather update: Flash Flood Warning cancelled for Kaua‘i; Kūhiō Highway in vicinity of Hanalei Bridge remains closed While a Flash Flood Warning has been cancelled for the island of Kaua‘i, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued. Kūhiō Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge remains closed until further notice. Flash Flood W atch means conditions may develop that leads to flash flooding. Residents and visitors should monitor the weather and be prepared to take action in the event that a Flash Flood Warning is issued. The American Red Cross Shelter at Hanalei Elementary School remains open. The Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative has restored most of the power in the North Shore and continues to troubleshoot in the Hā‘ena area. A crew from the United States Geological Survey continues to troubleshoot the Hanalei River upstream gage. County officials will reassess the status of the Kekaha Landfill, green waste services at all transfer stations across the island, and other county-related services and facilities tomorrow morning. The county will provide updated information as it becomes available. A Brown Water Advisory remains in effect, and the Department of Health is advising the public to stay out of the water. The Kalalau Trail also remains closed until further notice, according to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources. For updates on road conditions and closures, please call 241-1725.
