Reminder: Puhi Metals accepts e-waste for recycling
PUHI – Resource Recovery Solutions, the operator of Puhi Metals Recycling Center
(PMRC), accepts e-waste at no cost to residents and businesses.
This service is offered during the center’s regular hours of operation, Monday to
Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3951 Puhi Road.
PMRC accepts televisions, laptops, desktop computers, printers, audio and video
equipment, and gaming devices. Additionally, the center accepts satellite dishes and systems
as well as small household appliances such as toasters, blenders, coffee makers, hair dryers,
vacuum cleaners, and more. A complete list of acceptable items can be found on the county’s
website, www.kauai.gov/ewaste.
“We are pleased that residents and businesses have access to free e-waste recycling
six days a week, thanks to our partnership with Resource Recovery Solutions,” said Acting
County Engineer Lyle Tabata. “This allows the public to conveniently recycle their old
electronics, keep toxic waste out of our landfill and preserve our resources for future
generations.”
The e-waste is packed on site and shipped to IMS Electronics Recycling in Poway,
California, where it is disassembled and separated for recycling.
For more information, please call the County Recycling Office at 241-4841.
