Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall to close from Jan. 1 to June 30 for
asbestos abatement, tile installation
LĪHU‘E – The Department of Parks and Recreation is announcing that the Kaua‘i War
Memorial Convention Hall will be closed from Monday, Jan. 1, to Saturday, June 30, 2018, for
asbestos abatement as well as for new flooring and ceramic tile installation.
The scope of the project will be to remove asbestos-laced floor tiles from the building,
install new floor tiles, and also install new ceramic tiles on the kitchen walls to enhance
cleanliness and maintenance.
“The closure is unfortunate, however, we appreciate the public’s patience as the project
is part of the county’s effort to provide quality customer service,” said Mayor Bernard P.
Carvalho Jr. “We look forward to reopening the facility once upgrades and renovations are
complete.”
Reservations for the convention hall will not be accepted during the closure period.
The contractors involved with the roughly $181,000 project are Pacific Concrete Coring
& Cutting, Inc and Creative Partition Systems.
For more information on this project, please call the Department of Parks and Recreation
office at 241-4460. To make reservations for the convention hall before or after the closure
period, please call Eddie Sarita at 241-6623.
