Managing Director KAUA‘I POLICE DEPARTMENT News Release For Immediate Release: December 13, 2017 DARRYL PERRY, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-1600 Fax (808) 241-1604 Dispute leads to stabbing, arrest KAPA‘A – A 39-year-old Kapa‘a man was transported to Wilcox Hospital after a stabbing that occurred Tuesday night. Police were called to Kūhiō Highway in the vicinity of Kauwila Street at approximately 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, after receiving reports of an assault in progress. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim and a 28-year-old male were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the victim being stabbed in the stomach. The victim sustained a severe laceration and was transported to Wilcox Hospital for treatment. It was later learned that his injuries were non-life threatening. The suspect, Patrick Janicke of Kapa‘a, was arrested at the scene for Assault in the second degree. He is currently being held in Police Cellblock with bail set at $5,000. Kūhiō Highway between Kauwila Street and Kukui Street was closed until approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, while police conducted an on-scene investigation. This case remains under police investigation. ###
