Kapa‘a traffic crash results in critical injuries
KAPA‘A – Kaua‘i police responded to a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Malu
Road in Kapa‘a on Wednesday night.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m., when a 71-year-old Kapa‘a woman
was heading north in a Ford Mustang and crashed head-on into a utility pole.
The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle by firefighters and medics. She was
initially transported to Wilcox Hospital but was medevaced to Queen’s Hospital later that night.
She remains there in critical condition.
Officers with KPD’s Traffic Safety Section responded to conduct an on-scene
investigation.
Malu Road was closed in both directions from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 11:15 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under police investigation.
