Carvalho Jr. submitted his proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (FY18) to the Kaua‘i County Council on Tuesday. The mayor is seeking approval of a $204 million operating budget and a $14.3 million capital improvement program. “This proposed budget continues to pursue the shared goal of the County Council and the Administration to build a financial strategy that seeks to address the County’s short-term objectives while maintaining long-term financial stability,” stated Mayor Carvalho. “I am proud to say that this proposed budget accomplishes those goals while remaining structurally balanced. I look forward to working with our County Council in the coming weeks to make important financial decisions for the people of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau.” To view the mayor’s proposed budget for FY18 in its entirety and his accompanying message, please go to the county website, www.kauai.gov/Announcements. Mayor Carvalho will present his State of the County address on Thursday, March 16. The event will be held at 9 a.m. at the Līhu'e Civic Center, Mo‘ikeha Building courtyard.
