Perry and the Kaua`i Police Department took part in the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign at KPD headquarters, Ka Hale Maka‘i O Kaua‘i. Representatives from the Kaua‘i District Health Office, YWCA, the Kaua`i Children’s Justice Center, and the Girl Scouts of Kaua`i, assisted in planting a pinwheel garden in the front lawn of KPD headquarters on Friday, April 7. Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the pinwheel as the new national symbol for the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and it symbolizes that every child deserves to have a safe, happy, and positive childhood. “The Kaua‘i Police Department is proud to support the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign,” stated Chief Perry. “We hope that the pinwheels seen here at the police department, and at various locations across the island, will serve as a reminder that each and every one of us in the community play a role in supporting our keiki, and preventing child abuse and neglect.” Above Photo (L-R): Sgt.
