Police capture wanted KCCC escapee Ezekiel Bagano
Kaua‘i police officers apprehended wanted fugitive Ezekiel Bagano, who escaped from
the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center (KCCC) on Sunday morning.
Acting on a tip, Kaua‘i police located and arrested Bagano outside of an apartment
complex in Kapa‘a at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. He remains in police custody until he
can be transferred back to the custody of the state Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Bagano, age 19, of Kapa‘a, was initially arrested on February 9 for unauthorized control
of a propelled vehicle after he allegedly stole a car in the Kapa‘a area. He was being held at
KCCC while awaiting trial.
The facility reported Bagano missing at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, when a
kitchen supervisor noticed he was missing form his work station. The facility was placed on
lockdown and a headcount confirmed Bagano was not on facility grounds. Kaua‘i police, state
sheriffs and the media were notified of his escape.
DPS is investigating how Bagano escaped.
