Pedestrian in stable condition after being struck by vehicle
LAWAI – A 27-year-old male is in stable condition after he was struck by a vehicle while
crossing Kaumuali‘i Highway in Lāwa‘i on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was attempting to cross the highway
shortly before 4 p.m., when he was struck by a Honda sedan near the Oyama Road
intersection, fronting the Lāwa‘i 7-11.
The pedestrian was transported to Wilcox Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The female driver of the sedan, age 69, did not report any injuries.
The man was not walking in a marked crosswalk at the time he was hit.
Officers facilitated two-way traffic flow while police and medics responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
